Applications Built On Our Platform

Over 350 applications have been built using The Echo Nest's music data APIs and developer toolkits. Here are some of our favorites.

Make Up Recs

J Herskowitz

Given an undocumented Pandora API, it looks up a Pandora users account name then using that info pulls the XML feed for all of their stations (given their Pandora profile is public). It then filters out any stations that don't have at least one artist "seed", parses out the artist names and then creates Tomahawk Link using that info. Tomahawk's custom URI handler then just "does the right thing" when the user clicks the returned list of stations by adding the station to their Tomahawk sidebar. Given Tomahawk's multiple content source (including Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, Official.fm, Ex.fm, local disk, networked machines, etc) architecture and The Echo Nest's huge dataset, the new stations have available content pools of potentially tens of millions of tracks larger than the Pandora's ~1 million tracks. Also, the user can then further tweak the station in Tomahawk to better customize it.
