Audio DSP / MIR Engineer
We are looking for a Signal Processing and Music Information Retrieval engineer to improve our music analysis and synthesis algorithms. You'd be in charge of evaluating and improving the current audio and music algorithms: feature extraction (key, time signature, beat, etc), and synthesis (beat-matching, thumbnailing, time-stretching, etc) as well as designing new ones. The ideal candidate has experience with music text, and machine learning techniques (clustering, classification, regression, etc). Please send examples of projects you have worked on.

- Evaluate and improve current music feature extraction

The Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced in audio / music analysis and synthesis algorithms
- Actually understands the difference between audio and music
- Good knowledge of the Music Information Retrieval literature
- Proficiency in Matlab, Python, C/C++ (rather than assembly and embedded DSP)
- Educational background in Signal Processing, and Music
- Experienced in Machine Learning

Data Engineer
The Echo Nest processes enormous amounts of music data. We receive new content constantly. We're looking for a full-time employee with programming and data management experience to run the processes that ingest new content into our system. For candidates with aptitude and skills for programming, there will be an opportunity to develop custom software as part of the job.
Responsibilities:

use The Echo Nest infrastructure to process customer's data and ingest it into data system

work with the engineering team to modify/enhance data ingestion infrastructure

create customized scripts for pre and post processing of customer data

develop, maintain and run set of tests to maintain data integrity

makes sure that deadlines are met for all data ingestion tasks

work with customers to define and update the format of the data and schedules for the ingestion

maintain communications with customers regarding the schedules of data ingestions, incoming updates and other requests
The Ideal Candidate:
- Thorough, accurate and detail-oriented technologists
- Demonstrable working knowledge of one of the following scripting languages is required: Python, Perl or Shell scripting
- Quick learner
- 2-5 years experience in programming, data management or related technical field
- Associate degree or other certification in a technology field. Bachelor degree is preferred.
- Aptitude and attitude for mastering new technologies
- Experience working with enterprise-level engineering customers in a sales engineering, support or implementation role a big plus.
- Prior experience working with Amazon Cloud is a strong plus
- Team players who enjoy technology and can work effectively in a casual, deadline-driven environment.

Lead Data Architect
The Echo Nest's Lead Architect will be responsible for the design and development of one of the largest data stores about music in the world. The Echo Nest maintains billions of points of data about millions of artists, songs and listeners and the Lead Architect will work with the CTO and Director of Engineering to build our storage and query mechanisms to support dozens of different use cases and customer implementations. The ideal candidate has already built a large scale distributed data store and will own data ingestion, access and query across the company's entire suite of products.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, adapt and architect a queryable data store encompassing billions of data points and hundreds of millions of full text documents.
- Tuning, monitoring and performance testing for all queries and ingestion performed internally and by customers.
- Manage an engineering team along with the Director of Engineering on architecture and infrastructure related tasks.
- Work with Ops and QA on monitoring, provisioning and deployment
The Ideal Candidate:
- Demonstrable skill in architecting a very large scale distributed queryable data store.
- Programming proficiency in Java or Python.
- Strong familiarity or experience with full text search and indexing technologies.
- Experience with non-SQL data models: graph databases, KV stores, document oriented databases, vector search.
- Cluster computing, distributed data and processing.
- Familiar with Lucene, Solr, Hadoop/Cassandra/Hive, AMQP
- Strong systems administration knowledge, be able to debug IO, network

Software Architect
We are looking for an experienced software architect who can design and grow our audio analysis and synthesis platform. You would be working with our DSP researchers and engineers to build cutting-edge music tools that work on mobile devices, the desktop, and the web. The ideal candidate has built large cross-platform music software, is proficient with real-time audio, math optimization, and is familiar with DSP algorithms. For this position, please send examples of software engineering projects you have worked on.
Responsibilities:
- Architect of audio and music analysis and synthesis platform
- Write / rewrite code, integrating, optimizing, improving existing algorithms
- Design and direct software portability, efficiency, and quality evaluation
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced in architecting large cross-platform audio software
- Proficiency in C/C++, cross-platform compiling
- Proficiency in Python and in making Python libraries from C/C++
- Educational background in Computer Science, some Signal Processing

VP of Product
The VP of Product will work closely with the CEO and engineering team, leading product management, strategy and delivery, with accountability for key growth metrics. This product leader will be obsessed with digital music and will have a proven track record of successfully aligning technology platforms with market needs in a startup environment. The ideal candidate is keenly product-focused with a solid understanding of online music, analytics web services and information retrieval. Though this position will work closely with development teams in product development, this is not a hands-on engineering role.
