Knowledge Engineer / Developer
The Echo Nest is looking for a knowledge engineer to help our team build the best music intelligence products and grow our "musical brain" database and platform. The perfect candidate is more than passionate about music, is a solid developer, and can learn new things quickly. This is a full time only position in our office in Davis Square, Somerville MA USA.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a large Python code base that processes large amounts of text and audio data
- Write automated testing and QA tools for web crawling and analysis tasks
- Work with the Director of Technical Operations on scripting and maintenance tasks for hundreds of servers
- Learn new technologies quickly
The Ideal Candidate:
- has 1-3 years experience of development and scripting work in Python
- has linux or unix administration experience-- shell scripting, cron, ssh, basic commandline interaction
- has BA/BS in Computer Science or related
- has demonstrable knowledge of web and applications servers - Apache, IIS, Django
- web development experience is a big plus
- needs a strong familiarity with online music services and social networks

Software engineer with audio & DSP background
We are looking for an experienced software architect and team leader who can design our audio analysis and synthesis platform. You would be working with our researchers and engineers to build cutting-edge music tools that work on mobile devices, the desktop, and the web. The ideal candidate has led a team to build large cross-platform music software, is proficient with real-time audio, math optimization, and is familiar with DSP algorithms. VP of Product
The VP of Product will work closely with the CEO and engineering team, leading product management, strategy and delivery, with accountability for key growth metrics. This product leader will be obsessed with digital music and will have a proven track record of successfully aligning technology platforms with market needs in a startup environment. The ideal candidate is keenly product-focused with a solid understanding of online music, analytics web services and information retrieval. Though this position will work closely with development teams in product development, this is not a hands-on engineering role.
Responsibilities:
- Own delivery of The Echo Nest product suite and trusted brand relationship within the online music market.
- Define product requirements for engineering and build consensus around product road map.
- Serve as the company's primary customer advocate ensuring our music intelligence platform addresses our customers' needs and exceeds expectations.
- Drive product innovation and development, focused on profitability and informed by analytical research.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven product manager and leader with a 7+ year track record building game-changing, internet-based technology in a start-up environment, ideally in online music.
- Excellent grasp of digital music products, development challenges and industry pain points.
- Solid understanding of how the money works in online music.
